Interview with Mr. Paul Holloway, Event Director of TOC CSC: Europe

2012-5-10

JCtrans: Hello, Mr. Paul Holloway. Will you please make a brief introduction of TOC CSC: Europe?

Mr. Paul Holloway: The 2012 edition of TOC will be delivered in two distinct but equally totally connected parts.

The Conference; As part of the TOC rebrand that began one year ago this month, the TOC editorial journey is fully underway. The conference will now 'follow the box' and bring together the major components of the container supply chain to deliver a truly stimulating experience for all. Now the programme has migrated from purely operational content. We will gain insight into how the shippers, 3pls and carriers interact and how this affects the ports and terminals as an overall supply chain. It is thrilling for us to host C-level speakers from Nike, American, Chung Nam, Nestle, Adidas and Marks & Spencer's as well as Maersk, Zim, Hapag Lloyd, Agility, Khuene and Nagel, DHL and many other such companies.

The exhibition; In line with our 40-year's history and heritage we have a huge amount of content covering terminal operation relating to container port hard/software technology and automation. Much of this information will be delivered at no cost to the visitors as it will largely run in the free to air seminar areas on the show floor. We will deliver a high quality analysis from terminal operators and suppliers on issues such as container weighing at ports, safety, automation and technology. Within this 2.5 day programme visitors will be briefed on the TIGER project, an EU commissioned study on how ports can effectively move containers inland via rail networks. We will also hear from PEMA (Port Equipment Manufacturing Association) providing the audience with an impartial, panel based discussion surrounding various operational and technical issues. Many other suppliers and operators will take the floor throughout the event; it is advised that the reader visits the website for the full programme www.toc-events.com.

All of this information will take place amongst 150 exhibitors who will display the latest, cutting edge technology and offer ports and terminals

JCtrans: How does this event benefit the industry?

Mr. Paul Holloway: Our strap line has long been 'learn, debate, and network', which I think encapsulates the benefits of attending any TOC CSC Event, globally. Now we have added a new profile, the entire container supply chain can come together to discuss pressing issues affecting their businesses and hear from their customers and suppliers alike. This is a collaborative event and also an opportunity for people who control the cargo to air publically their expectations/concerns in order to stimulate industry debate. On the exhibition floor, suppliers get to meet the key buyers and operators can view the latest cutting edge technologies available. So if you are a shipper, carrier, 3PL, port/terminal or supplier there is value in attending TOC.

JCtrans: What is new for this edition?

Mr. Paul Holloway: The launch of the 'Big Box Shipper Club' is new and exciting. We will be inviting major BCO's to join a TOC club offering them various benefits. The entire programme is fresh and dynamic this year, it is truly the best I have ever witnessed, both internally and competitively. I would urge readers to view the programme on line - it will speak for itself.

JCtrans: What do you think are the other strong points of the event?

Mr. Paul Holloway: The strong points of this show, as ever, are the extraordinarily high quality speaker line up and editorial 'story' we will deliver alongside the world's leading exhibition for the container port technology sector. The combination of the high level, strategic information delivered in the fee based conference and the free to air technical content on the show floor makes this edition of TOC CSC EUROPE the most eagerly awaited event we have ever conceived. TOC is evolving; the brand is entering the most exciting and thought provoking period in its 40 year history.
