Interview with Leo Qiu, the General Manager of Foshan YANGHANG International Freight Co. Ltd

JCtrans: Would you please make a brief introduction of your company?

Mr. Qiu: Our company, being established in Foshan, covers Pearl River Delta. With perfect agency network, we can provide the customers with comprehensive international logistics service.
Our main businesses are International Marine Containers, LCL and special marine containers.
We also have some supporting businesses. They are storage, agent trailer customs, agent inspection, form a/e/co, commercial inspection, fumigation, paying customs and some other kinds of cargo insurance and agent import and export services. The special lines of our company are Southeast Asia line, the Middle East, India and Pakistan line, the middle-south America line, the Africa line and the Europe line. We offer professional services, such as export of ceramic sanitary appliance from Pearl River Delta, furniture, coil of strip and large machinery.
From the foundation of the company, we began to develop comprehensive international logistics and pay attention to long-term development. So we have accumulated rich experience. At the same time, we build very good relations of cooperation with several well-known big ship-owners. Therefore you can get better price and service from us.

JCtrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?

Mr. Qiu: Service quality and informationization degree is very important.
China's forwarding industry faces embarrassing situation now. In the choice of cargo forwarder, only thirty percent of the owners choose just one for its service, while most owners will choose two to three, and even more. The reason is that a single forwarder company cannot provide them with ideal service quality.
After fully understanding the supplying market, we provide our customers with professional and thoughtful service according to their needs. Our enterprise is able to win customers favorable comment rely on our meticulous supporting service.

Details decide the discrepancy and connotation of service. Combining with our actual situation, we will make thorough investigation of our company's existing customers. Then we will provide them personalized logistics solutions. Also we will build up excellent service work team to improve customers' degree of satisfaction through improving the employee's degree of satisfaction. Meanwhile, according to the management requirements of service quality, we will establish service process and service specifications which are fit for company development in order to give better service to our customers. So they can give us their goods at ease completely. We will be wholeheartedly for them.
Our company attaches great importance to information gathering and sorting through the network and other ways in order to know the market trends at any time. JCtrans: Would you please talk about your strategy to explore foreign market?

Mr. Qiu: Firstly, professionals who master a foreign language and know freight forwarding operation are needed. It is of no doubt that overseas agent development needs specialist or even specialized team. I'm glad that I have a group of good subordinate who can go through thick and thin together with me. Each employee of our Overseas Department is super professional who can provide our clients with high quality services.
Secondly, we need to be familiar with the target market and the characteristics of the nations we developed. Countries of different regions have different features, such as their customs, manner of working and forwarding market situation. To make corresponding development through understanding of the target overseas market will get twice the result with half the effort. Conversely, if develop blindly, we will not only waste resources, but also can not reach the expected effect.
Finally, email communication and improving the efficiency of communication with overseas agents are important. Email is an important tool for international business. Compared with telephone and fax, email can save more time and cost. Therefore, the development of overseas agent needs good email communication skills.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about what is your advantage of overseas business?

Mr. Qiu: Overseas development does need a good platform. It will be easy to talk with the customers if the company has large scale, strength, advantage of freight stock and is available to assign to overseas agent. Our company has long-term cooperation relationships with MSK, MSC, COSCO, OOCL, K-LINE, CMA, ZIM, CCNI, HAMBURG SUD, BEN LINE, EMC, WHL, YML, HMM, SITC, MOL,YSC, HEUNG-A, CSAV, CSCL, TSL, APL, ANL, MARIANA and many other Carriers. So we can offer high quality service according to the requirements of overseas agent.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about the outlook for next year?

Mr. Qiu: Now the shipping malignant competition is serious, and the profit is less and less. In this situation, for the next stage, our company will put forth effort to provide the existing and new customers with perfect logistics service under the premise of keeping good close relations of cooperation with our existing customers. And we will give full play to the network operation function to achieve our logistics concept.
Network informationization is the trend of the time. Internet e-commerce era makes the impossible into possible and the traditional into inheritable. Through network construction and perfection, we absolutely can create a new business model or integrate the traditional business resource into recycling. Our company pays special attention to the network construction because this is a kind of aeriform, huge information "hub port", which can transmit exchange resources. So its construction is worthy of our great effort.
Foshan three mountain port, being one of south China's excellent ports in import and export, is very suitable for developing logistics industry, no matter from the point of geographical location or development opportunities. Although the overall situation is dispiriting, however, after overcoming this difficulty, the whole industry will be better in the future development. We have confidence to play a part in it in the future.
