Interview with Neil, the manager of FREIGHTIT CC

2010-7-23

JCtrans:Please make a brief introduction about your company?

Neil: Operating as a South African based company since 2005, Freightit CC formally known has quickly become a highly successful and respected International logistics company globally. And it forms a part of a group with another 2 specialized and highly successful logistics companies, Courierit and Warehouseit.

Freightit adds value to the group because it offers international logistics solutions. Port-to-port or door-to-door logistics, is our proven speciality through services that encompass International Freight Forwarding & Clearing, Southern Africa RIB movements, warehousing and distribution, project cargo for all Imports and Exports whatever by Air, Sea or road as a strategic gateway into & out of Africa & anywhere else on the globe.

JCtrans:Would you please talk about the situation of logistic industry in your country this year?

Neil: The South African logistics market was certainly also impacted by the global economic slow down in 2009 and this seems to persist into the 1st quarter of 2010 as well with a slow uptake from March of 2010. Volumes seem to be increasing as European and the USA's markets slowly start to show signs of recovery from last years lows.

We must remember that South Africa is a net importer and greatest contingent of exports. Although our bulk raw material commodities rather than South African manufactured goods are exported ,however, South Africa still plays an important role in being a strategic gateway to the rest of Africa.

JCtrans:Would you please talk about your core-competitiveness?

Neil: Freightit is only one of four owner managed logistics companies in our group, which forms a strategically integrated chain of core competency logistics specialists with synergies across all entities that ensures our costs are streamlined and minimized, make Freightit both ultra competitive operationally and offer true value for money to the industry and our partners around the globe.

Excellent relationships with all airlines and shipping lines routed into and out of South Africa is also a strategic advantage for Freightit which enables space and pricing management.

JCtrans:What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistic forwarding company?

Neil: There are actually many critical success factors involved in building and managing a superior freight forwarding and clearing agency. But probably the most important one is the quality of employees that the company invests in. Customer service orientation, experience and retraining to keep up with the changes in the industry are also the key points.

The culture you breed in your company transcends into your employees and into your customer service, it all comes as leadership from the top.

JCtrans:Would you please talk about your plan this year?

Neil: There are strategic niche markets that Freightit has been targeting and finding upward successes with. The company is starting to choose lucrative markets, trade lanes and partners to focus more stringently on to ensure a healthy sustainable business model going forward.
