Nokia completes new home for its China headquarters in Beijing
POSTED: 10:53 a.m. EDT, May 27,2007

Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, announced Friday that it has finished construction of its China Campus, which will be home to its China headquarters, research and development center, and mobile phone manufacturing base.

The project, located in Yizhuang economic and industrial zone in southeast of Beijing, cost 450 million yuan (about 58 million U.S. dollars) to build.

Before the end of the year more than 1,500 Nokia staff, working in research and development, sales, marketing, logistics, sourcing and manufacturing, will move to the complex from the Xingwang industrial park, also in Yizhuang, said Yang Dapeng, a senior executive with Nokia China. Nokia has more than 6,000 employees working throughout China.

The Xingwang industrial park, also home to nearly 20 other electronic companies, has attracted a total investment of more than 13 billion yuan since it was established in 2000.

The park's output value is 100 billion yuan accounting for half of the total output value of Beijing's electronic manufacturing industry. More than 45,000 people work at the industrial park.
