POSTED: 9:21 a.m. EDT, May 31,2007
Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President George W. Bush will meet at the summit of the Group of Eight (G8) in Germany and then in the United States on July 1-2,the Kremlin press service said on Wednesday.

During Putin's visit to the United States, his talks with Bush are scheduled to take place near Kennebunkport, Maine. White House spokesman Tony Snow said Bush was looking forward to Putin's visit as part of "the intensive bilateral dialogue" at the top level.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who are attending a ministerial meeting in Potsdam, discussed the preparation of the U.S.-Russian summit, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

"The sides discussed issues of the bilateral and international agenda, primarily in the context of preparations for the upcoming meetings between the presidents of Russia and the United States," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
