Kuehne+Nagel expands in Duisburg

2007-11-1

Work has begun on the extension of Kuehne+ Nagel's Duisburg logport facility, with the official 'breaking ground' yesterday.

Kuehne+Nagel has been operating a facility with 25,000 m2 of warehouse space on the Duisburg logport premises since 2003. The second phase of construction will double the existing warehouse space on an adjacent 44,000 m2 plot of land.

'The expansion underlines the importance of Duisburg as a logistics location for the Kuehne+Nagel Group and is a confirmation of our dynamic performance in the region," commented managing director Hans-Georg Brinkmann, adding that bundling and processing goods flows at this central hub and using Duisburg's Europe-wide intermodal transport network can reduce costs and minimise the environmental impact.

Completion of the second phase of construction is scheduled for June 2008.

With a total investment of approximately €22 million, Kuehne+Nagel is one of the biggest investors in Duisburg logport.
