The Boeing Company announced on Thursday that it delivered 109 commercial airplanes in the third quarter, up 9 percent from a year ago.
The third-quarter deliveries pushed the Chicago-based U.S. airplane manufacturer's total for the year to date to 329, according to a press release issued by the company on its website.
Boeing delivered 81 single-aisle 737 airplanes in the third quarter, accounting for three-quarters of the total. So far this year, the company has delivered a total of 250 737 model planes.
It also delivered 20 777s, five 747s and three 767s in the third quarter.
Earlier this year, Boeing's Chief Executive Officer Jim McNerney said that the U.S. company expects to overtake European rival Airbus in deliveries by early 2008.
Airbus at present projects that it will deliver a total of 450 to 460 airplanes in 2007, news reports say.
It is expected to report its third-quarter deliveries shortly.
