Indian gems, jewelry net export down

India's gems and jewelry net exports in April-November this year dropped by 3 percent to 10,534 million dollars from 10,864 million dollars in corresponding period last year, according to the Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council of India Sunday.

The total exports, including the exports of rough diamonds, however, dropped by one percent to 11,132 million dollars in April- November this year, down from 11,246 million dollars in the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, exports of cut and polished diamonds plunged nearly 15 percent to 6,897 million dollars from 8,107 million dollars.

However, the gold jewelry exports surged by 34 percent to 3,375 million dollars in April-November from 2,515 million dollars in the same time last year.
