POSTED: 11:04 a.m. EDT, May 21,2007

Two law enforcement officers and one civilian was shot late Saturday in Moscow, in the northwestern U.S. state of Idaho, U.S. media reported Sunday.

The conditions of those who had been shot, including a police officer and a sheriff's deputy, were not immediately available.

The shootings began around 11 p.m. Saturday local time, when someone started firing at the courthouse in Moscow, which included the sheriff's office, local police said.

A police officer was shot first, then a county sheriff's deputy coming to his aid was struck. Later, a civilian was shot.

Police had surrounded the First Presbyterian Church, which was located near the courthouse and where the suspect or suspects were believed to be hiding.

There are about 20,000 residents in Moscow, which houses the University of Idaho.
