Coal stocks at 16 key ports in India fall 4% on week: Interocean

Stockpiles of imported coal at 16 major ports in India stood at 9.6 million mt as of Saturday, down 4% from 10 million mt the previous week, data released by Indian shipbroker Interocean Group showed.
Of the 9.6 million mt, 7.5 million mt was thermal coal, down 6% from 8 million mt a week earlier, while coking coal constituted 2.1 million mt, up 5% from 2 million mt, according to the data.
The 16 ports surveyed by Interocean for both weeks were Mangalore, Tuticorin, Kakinada, Paradip, Kandla, Gangavaram, Vizag, Krishnapatnam, Muldwarka, Bhavnagar, Pipavav, Goa, Dahej, Magdalla, Hazira and Haldia.
The port of Paradip on India's east coast had the highest coal stocks at 1.6 million mt, 5.8% lower than 1.7 million mt the previous week.
Krishnapatnam on the east coast had the second highest stockpiles at around 904,125 mt, a 50% plunge from 1.8 million mt the previous week, according to the data.
Haldia port on the east coast had the highest coking coal stocks at 657,600 mt, up 7% from 612,000 mt a week earlier, the data showed.
