UASC receives second 6,919-TEU box ship from HHI

2008-2-25

Kuwait's United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) says it has taken delivery of the second of eight 6,919-TEU containerships ordered from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The order stems back to a US$850 million deal for all eight vessels signed in March 2005.

The newbuilding, named the Hatta, will join sister vessel the Al Safat on the weekly Asia/Middle East/Europe AEC service, on which Hanjin Shipping, Senator Lines, CSAV Norasia and Hapag-Lloyd all take space from UASC on various legs.
