Chongqing Zhongxian to build 10,000 tonne river port

The authorities of Zhongxian in Chongqing city said they have signed a co-operation agreement with Chongqing Port Logistics Group and Wanzhou Port Group for a new 10,000-tonne harbour facility along the Yangtze River, Xinhua reported.

The river port project, invested CNY120 million (US$16.2 million), will cover a deep-water terminal and a logistics zone with annual handling capacity of two million tons, the report said.

After the project is completed, 10,000-tonne vessels from the lower stream of Yangtze River can sail up to Zhongxian, which is also connected with highway and railways to other parts of the country, the report said.
