GGL Line has commenced a direct NVOCC service from Singapore to Bangalore in India to meet a growing demand for such services in the Lion City.
The NVOCC operator said in a statement that the delay in filing the Import General Manifest (IGM) with customs, documentation complexity and the longer transit times required in the case of routing shipments for Bangalore via Chennai in southern India prompted GGL to launch the direct service to Bangalore.
The transit time for its new direct weekly service to Bangalore, which departs Singapore on Mondays, is 11 days. GGL uses its own boxes to cater to the less-than-container load and full container load (LCL/FCL) trade between Singapore and the Indian subcontinent. All of its operational activities are supported by in-house computer software.
The main commodities for export from Singapore to Bangalore that the company expects to handle are machinery, engineering products, pharmaceuticals, rubber, garments, silk and plastics.
GGL has been transporting import and export cargo globally through its own offices and partners for the past 18 years. Its operations mainly focus on consolidation traffic and the full container load business, the company release added.
