US Customs has certified Lufthansa Cargo AG as security-compliant in line with requirements of the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) programme based on the carriers high security standards.
Lufthansa Cargo's import and export shipments will consequently continue to enjoy priority processing by US Customs, a statement from the airline said.
Harald Zielinski, Lufthansa Cargo Security chief, said: "During the official validation, Lufthansa Cargo had to prove that its security standards are far superior. We are looking forward to continued good and trustful co-operation with the US Customs and Border Protection Agency. That will profit our European and American customers on all shipments into and out of the USA."
Lufthansa Cargo became the first European cargo carrier to be C-TPAT-certified by US customs in 2004. Certification has to be validated every three years. Membership of C-TPAT is voluntary.
