Fesco CEO elected director of Baltic International Maritime Council
POSTED: 9:47 a.m. EDT, June 16,2007

Russia's Far East Shipping Company (Fesco) president and CEO Evgeny Ambrosov has been elected to represent the interests of Russian shipowners on the board of the Baltic and International Maritime Council (Bimco).

Founded in 1905 in Copenhagen, Bimco is the world's largest industry association that unites 2,550 companies including shipowners who operate 65 per cent of the world's merchant fleet, 1,500 brokers and agent companies and correspondents of P&I Clubs from 123 countries.

Mr Ambrosov was elected to the post at Bimco's general assembly June 4-6 in Hong Kong. The body develops shipping policy and the usage of the oceans as well as solving problems of transport documents unification.

Members of the board are elected two years and represent leading shipowners. Mr Ambrosov's election to the supreme body of Bimco management is a professional recognition of his merits in the development of the Russian fleet.

Mr Ambrosov helped build the Fesco transport group into Russia's largest domestic container operator with a total volume of more than 1.8 million TEU in 2006.
