Two crewmen die in hold of Isle of Man registered ship

Whilst at port near Sundsvall in Sweden, two crewmen have died in the hold of a cargo ship.

The 5679 grt FEMBRIA, operated by a German shipping company, was docked at a terminal that serves the Ostrand pulp mill.

Both men died after going into the hold where oxygen levels were later found to be only two percent.

A third crewman who wore a protective mask and had gone to the rescue of his collegues was taken to hospital in Sundsvall with breathing difficulties.

The tragedies occured on Wednesday 23rd May. Police were called to the vessel at 12:44pm.

The ship, which was built in China in 2006, is registered at Douglas, on the Isle of Mann and is owned by German shipowner, Hans Matthias Voss of Burger.
