EUROPEAN Cargo Services (ECS) has set up an office in the United Arab Emirates' city of Dubai.
The new office is located inside the Dubai Airport Free Zone.
"The UAE is such a buoyant and fast-growing cargo market and it is important that we have our own office there to provide the representation services our airline customers require from us," said Tobias Siegl, managing director of Globe Air Cargo FZE.
"Further growth will widen the scope of our network and we can fulfil our mission to optimise airline cargo capacities and earnings, and also facilitate intercontinental airfreight transit for the benefit of freight forwarders."
Globe Air Cargo FZE is said to be the first fully-owned ECS office in the Middle East. In Dubai, ECS will provide cargo sales services for Qantas Airways, SN Brussels, Ukraine International Airlines and Africa West.
Shiranka Leo, who formerly spent 24 years working for Singapore Airlines Cargo, has been appointed as country manager for ECS in Dubai. He reports directly to Mr Siegl. |
