Lufthansa net profit zooms up

German flag carrier Lufthansa saw profits soar to US$2.24 billion in the first nine months of this year from $589 million in the same period last year due to positive operating developments at Lufthansa and Swiss, income from portfolio management and a one-off reduction in the deferred tax liabilities of $300 million.
