Yangshan targets annual box volume of 5.45m TEU

Shanghai's Yangshan port area is aiming to complete the Phase 3 Terminal, Stage A project by December 10 and achieve a container throughput of 5.45 million TEU by the end of this year, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The phase 3 terminal project, which is divided into two stages, is planned to have seven container berths and a quay length of 2,650 metres. Stage A has a quay length of 1,350 metre and four berths.



By 2010, the Yangshan port area will be able to handle 15 million TEU a year, covering a quay length of more than 10 kilometres, containing over 30 berths. By 2020, there will be more than 50 berths with a capacity of 25 million TEU.
