China, Germany and Russia to Hookup on a Railroad
POSTED: 9:24 a.m. EDT, January 4,2007

China, Germany and Russia have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation signaling Eurasian railway transportation aimed at providing competitive market services in both movement of freight by rail and in logistics.
A working group made up of the three parties, along with their Customs service organizations is developing a schedule for the joint operation as well as conducting market research on rail container freight between Asia and Europe. Additionally it is developing the legal, economic and organizational framework for such a joint venture and writing a final document covering the group conclusions.

The next step is a meeting of the three governments to decide on possible cooperative measures to be taken, among which is the possibility of creation of a joint venture company as early as April or May of this year.
