Thousands of freight containers piled up...
POSTED: 11:12 a.m. EDT, December 6,2006

Thousands of freight containers piled up at the commercial port of Piraeus yesterday as dockers entered the fourth week of their refusal to work overtime. The industrial action has caused a huge backlog of containers, prompting major shipping clients to move their business to other ports. Dockers in Piraeus and Thessaloniki are opposing government plans to privatize some services in the two ports, fearing the impact the move could have on their jobs.
