AirAsia to add flights between KL and eastern states in Malaysia
POSTED: 11:31 a.m. EDT, December 27,2006

Malaysia's budget airline AirAsia will add one more daily fight between Kuala Lumpur and two eastern states starting from early next month.

Starting from Jan. 4, 2007, AirAsia will start its ninth daily flight between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching, capital of Sarawak state, as well as between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, capital of Sabah state, the company said in a statement available here Tuesday.

AirAsia took the move to meet strong passengers demand for these key routes, it said, adding in the past three months, the airline has recorded high loads of over 90 percent for both routes.

The added early departures will appeal especially to business travelers who like to have an early start to the day or even make day trips, it said.

To kick off Visit Malaysia Year 2007, AirAsia will be offering a "3-day special" promotion for the added frequency flight from Wednesday to Friday for travel period between Jan. 4, 2007 and March 24.

Promotional fares start from 29.99 ringgit (8.33 U.S. dollars) and 39.99 ringgit (11.11 U.S. dollars) (all fares are excluding airport taxes, fuel surcharges and fees, and are applicable for one-way travel only) for the Kuching-Kuala Lumpur route and Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu route respectively.
