Hong Kong International Airport cargo up 3.4 per cent
POSTED: 10:12 a.m. EDT, November 22,2006
HONG KONG International Airport (HKIA), has announced its traffic results for October 2006. Cargo throughput grew steadily, with total tonnage reaching 329,000 tons, up 3.4 per cent year-on-year.

Having been ranked as one of the busiest airports for international air cargo since 1996, HKIA has handled 3.4 million tonnes of freight in 2005. The airport is on track to surpass this number as aircraft movements increased by 3.4 per cent to 24,450.

“Origin, destination and transfer traffic experienced healthy growth in October, fuelled by buoyant regional demand. Persistent growth over the last 10 months gives us a strong base for another record-breaking year,” commented Howard Eng, airport management director.
