New Jersey-based UTC Overseas has launched a newly constructed mega railcar as an attractive alternative to the 20-axle Schnabel cars, according to Shipping Gazette.
The 40-foot load deck, the longest of any 16-axle depressed centre car available in North America boasts an extra length deck and 400+ short ton load capacity making it ideal for the transport of heavy and oversized units.
The car from Project Cargo Logistics unit follows four months of construction and arrives to market at a time of little rolling stock to handle big turbines, generators, stators, engines, gensets and transformers.
The mega railcar allows for capacity of 804,000 pounds and gross rail load of 1,144,000 pounds.
