Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of 2 road projects worth a combined total of USD 2.7 billion (SAR 10 billion).
A road linking the Asir and Jazan regions is set to be built at a cost of USD 1.6 billion (SAR 6 billion), the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday (12 July) following an announcement by the Emir of Asir.
The dual carriageway would stretch 135 kilometer (km) from Al-Far'a Recreation Park in the south of Abha, to Beesh in the north of Jazan region. Services needed to facilitate the movement of travellers between the two regions will also be built as part of the project, said Prince Faisal.
The second project would see the construction of a USD 1.1 billion (SAR 4 billion) highway between Makkah and Jazan regions via Asir, along with requisite services and rest houses.
Both projects are part of a USD 6.4 billion (SAR 24 billion) programme of road building approved by the Saudi government.
