The global provider of logistics, transportation management and supply chain services, Menlo Logistics, has appointed a new European HR Director. Gert Jan van Sluis, a HR professional with 14 years' experience in the function, joins the logistics provider from global semiconductor manufacturer, NXP.
Van Sluis will be responsible for managing the complete human resource support function for the European Region and lead the existing HR group from Menlo's European headquarters in Amsterdam.
Welcoming van Sluis to the role, Menlo Europe's Managing Director, Tony Gunn said, "It might be a cliche to say that a company's most valuable resource is its people but it remains nonetheless true. At Menlo we have a work ethic that is central to our business philosophy of continuous improvement. This is what our customers buy into time and time again. It is crucial therefore that our HR policies of recruitment, training, staff motivation and remuneration are focussed on enabling our employees to deliver a service which is constantly up-dated and manage processes that are permanently under review in order to make them more efficient. I am delighted that Gert Jan has joined us to head up this effort."
Van Sluis joins Menlo from NXP where he has worked since 2006 as HR Director. Prior to NXP he spent 6 years in the HR function at Royal Phillips Electronics. His extensive experience in all aspects of HR, including its international challenges, furnishes him with the right skill set and qualifications to lead Menlo's HR function in Europe.
Van Sluis received his Master of Science in Management of Personnel from Tilburg University.
John Herb, The Global VP of HR for Menlo also welcomed van Sluis, "I have been impressed with Gert Jan's ability to translate both our global strategies and regional business policies into a cohesive and effective HR plan for Europe. He will be a great asset to our company."
