World crude oil futures prices rise slightly

The prices of crude oil futures rose slightly on Wednesday after U.S. supplies of gasoline and distillate declined.

Light, sweet crude for May delivery rose 36 cents to settle at 59.61 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude for May delivery added 53 cents to settle at 60.73. dollars a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange in London.

The U.S. Energy Department reported early Wednesday that its crude supplies rose by 4 million barrels to 329.3 million barrels for the week ending March 16.

Gasoline inventories fell by 3.4 million barrels to 210.5 million barrels, as distillate inventories, which include heating oil, fell by 1.7 million barrels to 118.7 million barrels for last week.
