Moscow to upgrade third airport in time

Russia's UTair Aviation, local authorites and Russian Internal Forces, have signed a deal to rebuild the Ermolino International Airport in Kaluga, 150 kilometres south west of Moscow, according to Shipping Gazette.
The reconstruction will comply with Category II ICAO Airdrome Standards with flight operations to begin in 2017. The new facility will relieve pressure on Moscow airports in time for the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
Local government has agreed to attract investors and provide support and collaborate with the federal government, according to the UTair statement.
The general command of Russian Internal Forces of the Russian Ministry of Interior and UTair will make joint use of the airport and intend to sign a contract to share it as a hub.
UTair Aviation will take measures to prepare the airport for exploitation in accordance with existing regulations for civil airports.
Renovation includes the building of 250,000 square metres of apron area and 45 parking spots, an airport terminal with capacity up to 2,500 passengers per hour and a fueling station.
Also planned is an enhanced an emergency station, maintenance facilities and utility networks as well as a hotel complex, restaurants, road and rail infrastructure.
UTair operates more than 150 fixed wing aircraft operating on 110 destinations in Russia and abroad. It maintains a hub at Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport, from which provides 100 flights daily.
