Hangzhou airfreight market competition intensifies

2008-1-11

COMPETITION in the Hangzhou airfreight market has been intensifying as Shenzhen-based Donghai Airlines launches a Hangzhou-Shenzhen chartered cargo service, bringing the number of daily freighter flights at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport to 14, Xinhua reported.

The 14 flights, operated by cargo airlines including Okay Airways and Yangtze River Express, cover Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Beijing with 10 of them servicing Shenzhen, the report said.

Besides domestic cargo services, Xiaoshan Airport also plans to introduce international freighter services. The airport is now talking with America's 3E Airlines to launch international chartered cargo flights to Europe and the US, the report said.

Hangzhou also plans to set up an air logistics processing zone near the airport to expand its cargo handling capacity and add more freighter services to meet surging demand in the area, the report added.
