HK's container throughput rises 6.8pc in February

THE Port of Hong Kong's container throughput rose 6.8 per cent in February year on year from 1,902,000 to 3,551,000 TEU, according to the Hong Kong Port Development Council.

By contrast Singapore, rated the world's No 1 container port, was just ahead of Hong Kong in February with a container volume increase to 2,117,700 TEU, up 2.4 per cent year on year.

In January, Hong Kong's container volume increased 1.2 per cent to 1,902,000 TEU against Singapore's 2,170,500, which rose from 1,948,300 TEU year on year, an increase of 11.4 per cent.



Together, Singapore's January and February volume stands at 4,289,200 TEU against Hong Kong's 3,551,000 TEU.
